Every striker to have graced a professional football pitch has been guilty of a horrendous miss.Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, they all do it, but no miss this decade - perhaps in the history of football - has ever been as bad as that of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting against Strasbourg.Back in April, the former Stoke striker produced a miss that still leaves people open-mouthed every time they watch it.With the ball rolling into the Strasbourg net from Christopher Nkunku's shot, Choupo-Moting bizarrely stopped the ball on the line, before just standing there and watching it be cleared by the Strasbourg defence. How on earth is it possible? Sometimes, a footballer's actions just cannot be explained.

CHOUPO-MOTING'S HORRENDOUS MISS

Unfortunately for the Cameroonian striker, his reputation at Paris Saint-Germain is that of a meme-like figure anyway.

No one really knows how he earned such a prestigious move and watching him play alongside the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe just doesn't look right.

Just look at Mbappe's reaction from the bench to Choupo-Moting's miss...

MBAPPE'S REACTION

Priceless. After the game, the 30-year-old striker spoke out about his horror miss.

"Even for me it's hard to explain. I saw the pictures and I'm sorry because the ball was entering the net on Nkunku's shot," he said per AS.

"There had to be a goal. At first I thought he was going to pass me the ball, then he shot. I thought the defender was going to counter him, that's why I hesitated.

"I wanted to go to the ball, put it in the net... but it went very fast, it may not be easy to understand but it goes very fast.

"I wondered if I was offside or not. And if the ball was going to enter so don't touch it... I had a bad reflex. I touched the ball, it stayed on the line and touched the post...I wasted this opportunity."

Sorry Eric, but your place in the footballing hall of shame has now been secured forever!
