Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo reigned supreme in the 2010s.

Nine of the 10 Ballon d’Or awards given out between 2010 and 2019 went their way and their rivalry was one of the most dramatic storylines of the decade.

It’s simmered slightly, thanks to Ronaldo’s move to Juventus in 2018, but their duels were simply iconic.

They competed for Ballon d’Ors, La Liga titles, the Champions League and more.

And while football fans love to debate who the better player is, there’s no harm in simply enjoying what both have given us over the years.

They are arguably the two finest players in the history of the game and we may never see a head-to-head rivalry like it again.

Both players scoring at least 50 goals in consecutive years, trading blows as they try to win the biggest and best trophies.

It’s been breathtaking to watch and now their highlights have been compiled into one beautiful seven-minute video.

The video was made by @AFCComps on Twitter and features Messi and Ronaldo at their very best for club and country.

Sit back and enjoy.

Wow. It really makes you appreciate their extraordinary talents.

In GiveMeSport’s recent analysis of Messi and Ronaldo’s stats over the entire decade, we found that the Barcelona star had enjoyed the better stretch.

He scored more goals than Ronaldo (579 to 554) and won five Ballon d’Or awards compared to Ronaldo’s four.

Ronaldo, however, shone on the international stage, winning two tournaments with Portugal.

And his goalscoring feats for Real Madrid and Juventus have been phenomenal, especially in Los Blancos’ dominant stretch in the Champions League where they won it in four out of five seasons.

So when you're arguing with a mate over who the better player is, just remember that both have been incredible and have given so much to the beautiful game.
