Manchester United's 2020 got off to the worst possible start tonight at the Emirates.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side travelled to Arsenal in buoyant spirits after securing a gritty 2-0 win away at Burnley last time out.

But all that grit and determination went out the window night, with a hapless United side turning in one of their worst ever performances under Solskjaer - and that's saying something.

Luke Shaw and Jesse Lingard were utterly woeful, with Arsenal dominating the midfield up against Nemanja Matic and Fred.

The latter was one of United's better players, but he made sure his performance will be remembered as comedic with his dreadful free-kick attempt in stoppage time.

With Marcus Rashford hovering over the ball and waiting to strike, Fred bizarrely took charge and fired the ball into the Islington night sky.

Honestly, that ball is probably still travelling.

Why on earth did Rashford not take it? Did Fred forget the Englishman's rocket against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup a few months back?!

The Brazilian has really improved in recent weeks, but he just can't help delivering the odd embarrassing moment.

Nicolas Pepe and Sokratis scored the goals for the Gunners to seal perhaps their biggest three points in the post Arsene Wenger era.

Arsenal showed signs of unity and appeared to be implementing the new system set in place by Mikel Arteta perfectly.

Of course, there is a lot more work to be done, but the tide may finally be turning for the Gunners.

As for United, they surely cannot persist with Solskjaer for much longer, can they?
