The last decade saw some incredible teams.

Pep Guardiola assembled one of the best teams in history at Barcelona to begin the decade.

A few years later, Barca would then win the Champions League while possessing one of the greatest attacks in history in the shape of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

Fast forward a few years and Real Madrid were able to win three Champions League trophies in a row under Zinedine Zidane.

And, in the present day, Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola have created incredible sides at Liverpool and Manchester City respectively.

As the decade has come to a close, FourFourTwo have taken a look at the 25 best football teams of the last 10 years and ranked them in order.

You can view their list below...

25. Unai Emery's Sevilla

Emery never actually cracked the top four in La Liga, but he did make them a different beast in Europe.

Sevilla won three consecutive Europa League's from 2014-2016. In the third of those wins they took down Klopp's Liverpool in the final.

24. Louis van Gaal's Netherlands

Van Gaal's side were drawn in the Group of Death alongside Spain and Chile at the 2014 World Cup.

But they cruised through to the knockout rounds, dismantling Spain 5-1 in the process.

That was a hugely impressive result given Spain had won the previous three major trophies.

They made it to the semi-finals but lost agonisingly to Argentina in a penalty shootout.

They went on to smash Brazil 3-0 in the third place playoff game.

23. Real Madrid (2013/14)

With Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale up front, Carlo Ancelotti's side won four trophies in 2014, including the Champions League.

They failed to win La Luga, though, as they finished three points behind city rivals Atletico.

22. France at the 2018 World Cup

France won six of their seven games in the World Cup, with their only blemish coming in a meaningless group stage game against Denmark.

Didier Deschamps' side beat Argentina 4-3 in the last-16, then went on to defeat Uruguay and Belgium to reach the final two.

France then saw off Croatia to be crowned world champions for the second time.

21. Ajax 2018/19

Ajax were incredible last season.

They had the perfect blend of youth and experience which saw them challenge both domestically and in Europe.

Erik ten Haag led his side to a domestic double and they also made their mark in the Champions League.

The Dutch side defeated Real Madrid and Juventus in the knockout rounds and were seconds away from making it to the final, only for Tottenham's Lucas Moura to pop up with virtually the last kick of the game to break Ajax hearts.

20. Jurgen Klopp's Borussia Dortmund

The season prior to Klopp's arrival in 2008, Dortmund finished 13th in the Bundesliga.

It took him just three years to guide them to the Bundesliga title and they would win it again the following year.

Klopp's Dortmund also reached the 2013 Champions League final, where they were defeated by Bayern Munich.

19. Manchester United 2012/13

United signed Robin van Persie in the summer of 2012 and that proved to be a masterstroke.

The Dutch striker was almost unstoppable that season, scoring 26 times as Man United won the Premier League by 11 points.

That would be the only silverware for United that season, though, who exited the last 16 of the Champions League to Real Madrid.

Still, winning the Premier League was a fitting way for Sir Alex Ferguson to end his glittering Man United career.

18. Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham

Pochettino would not win any silverware at Spurs during his five-and-a-half year tenure, but he was able to create a superb side featuring the likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld.

The Argentine manager led his side to the 2019 Champions League final but was sacked just six months later.

17. Max Allegri's Juventus

Juventus were unstoppable under Allegri.

The Italian manager joined the club in 2014 and would win silverware in each of his five seasons there.

He also guided Juventus to two Champions League finals.

16. Germany at the 2014 World Cup

Germany possessed some incredible players in 2014.

Manuel Neuer, Jerome Boateng, Phillip Lahm, Toni Kroos, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mesut Ozil...

It's no wonder they smashed Brazil 7-1 in the semi-final and then went on to narrowly overcome Argentina to win the World Cup.

15. Chelsea 2009/10

Carlo Ancelotti's first season at Chelsea was a major success.

With John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba all in their prime, the Blues won both the Premier League and the FA Cup in 2010.

Unfortunately, their Champions League campaign came to an end in the last-16 as they were defeated by eventual winners, Inter Milan.

14. Roberto Mancini's Manchester City

In the 2011/12 season, Man City had a spine of Vincent Kompany, Yaya Toure, David Silva and Aguero. That's frightening.

And that would equal success as Aguero's last-minute goal saw them win their first Premier League title.

13. Chelsea 2016/17

Antonio Conte was close to being sacked at the start of the 2016/17 season.

But he changed Chelsea's formation to a 3-4-2-1 and that worked wonders as they would go on to win the Premier League with 93 points.

12. Monaco 2016/17

Monaco had an incredible team at their disposal in the 2016/17 season with Kylian Mbappe, Falcao, Fabinho and Bernardo Silva the stars.

They went on to win the Ligue 1 title by eight points from Paris Saint-Germain and also made it to the Champions League final.

Unfortunately they were unable to keep hold of their key players and they haven't been the same since.

11. Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool

In the 2017/18 season, the Reds reached the Champions League final.

A year later they went one better as they beat Tottenham in the final, while also amassing 97 points in the Premier League.

And they're on course to win their first Premier League title this campaign having dropped just two points from their opening 19 games.

Can they go unbeaten? You would be a fool to write that possibility off.

10. Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid

Simeone has had extraordinary success at Atletico since joining in 2011.

He's made them one of the hardest teams to play in the world due to their prowess in defence.

The Argentine has guided them to eight honours, including when they shocked Barcelona and Real Madrid to win La Liga in 2013.

They also reached two Champions League finals: in 2014 and 2016.

9. Luis Enrique's Barcelona

Enrique's Barcelona featured arguably the greatest attacking trio in history: Messi, Suarez and Neymar.

They dominated everyone in the 2014/15 season as they won the treble.

8. Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich

Bayern were dominant in Germany with Guardiola at the helm between 2013-2016.

They won 82 of 102 Bundesliga games en route to winning the title in each of his three seasons at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern were unable to win the Champions League in that time, though.

7. Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan

Mourinho was arguably the greatest manager in the world at the start of the decade.

His Inter Milan side managed to win the Champions League in 2010, beating Bayern 2-0 in the final.

Inter also won Serie A and Copa Italia the same year. Mourinho left at the end of the 2010 season and Inter haven't been the same since.

6. Zinedine Zidane's Real Madrid

You've got to be a special side to win three consecutive Champions League titles.

Cristiano Ronaldo was the side's focal point, but they also possessed world-class players such as Sergio Ramos, Gareth Bale and Luka Modric.

Despite their European success, Los Blancos have only won one La Liga title with Zidane at the helm.

5. Bayern Munich 2012/13

This Bayern side was special. They won absolutely everything under Jupp Heynckes.

They recorded 91 points in the Bundesliga, losing just once as they won the title by 25 points.

Bayern famously defeated Barcelona 7-0 in the Champions League semi-final and then overcame Dortmund at Wembley.

Heynckes' side also won the DFB-Pokal and the DFL-Supercup. It really was the perfect season.

4. Leicester 2015/16

Leicester pulled off the impossible in the 2015/16 season.

Predicted to be relegated from the Premier League at the start of the campaign, they went on to win it all by seven points.

N'Golo Kante, Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy were all unbelievable that season.

3. Pep Guardiola's Manchester City

Guardiola's Man City team have been incredible since 2017. They became the first Premier League side to break the 100-point barrier in the 2017/18 campaign.

The following season they recorded 98 points and held off a Liverpool side that went on to win the Champions League.

Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling have all excelled under the former Bayern manager's guidance.

2. Vicente del Bosque's Spain

Spain had a ridiculous number of world-class midfielders at the start of the decade.

Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Xabi Alonso, Cesc Fabregas, Sergio Busquets... they would have got in any teams in the world.

They also had arguably the best goalkeeper in the world in Iker Casillas and world-class defenders in Gerard Pique, Sergio Ramos and Carles Puyol.

Del Bosque's side also had Fernando Torres and David Villa up front.

It's no wonder they won the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012.

1. Pep Guardiola's Barcelona

Arguably the greatest team of all time. Like Spain, Barcelona had world-class players everywhere on the pitch.

They had Carles Puyol, Pique and Dani Alves in defence. Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets in midfield. Lionel Messi, Villa and Thierry Henry up front. What a team.

Manchester United were simply no match as they succumbed to a 3-1 defeat in the 2011 Champions League final.

There can be absolutely no arguments about Guardiola's Barca side topping the list. They were absolutely unstoppable and it may be a very long time until we see a team like them again.

It's no surprise that a lot of these Barcelona players also led Spain to three consecutive major trophies between 2008-2012.

Including his Barca side, Guardiola has three teams inside the top eight, which just goes to show what an impressive manager he is.

Klopp's Liverpool side have been extraordinary over the past few years but, with no Premier League title to show for (yet), they don't quite get into the top 10.

They do have the makings of a very special side, though, and will no doubt be in the running when the best teams of the 2020s are named.
