Divock Origi may not hold star status at Liverpool but he remains a popular figure among the club’s supporters.

The Belgian has scored some vital goals for Liverpool, including in last season’s Champions League final, and has managed to forge an important role in the squad.

He grabbed the winner in last season’s Merseyside derby against Everton at Anfield and also completed Liverpool’s comeback in their thrilling win against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final.

Then came his goal in the final against Tottenham Hotspur, a moment Origi will cherish for the rest of his life.

And in the entertaining Carabao Cup affair with Arsenal in October, Origi scored in the 94th minute to send the tie to extra-time. Origi then converted his penalty in the shootout as Jurgen Klopp’s side progressed to the quarter-finals.

So if there’s one thing that the 24-year-old can be relied upon, it’s producing in the big moments.

Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino get all the headlines but Origi is a fine backup, has a great attitude and carries himself with class.

And he showed in Thursday’s win against Sheffield United just why Liverpool fans adore him so much.

Origi was brought on in the 78th minute, with Liverpool already 2-0 up and three points pretty much secured.

Sheffield United kept pushing for a goal and created an opening in the 91st minute.

But that opening was slammed shut when Origi tracked back from left wing to intercept a pass into Liverpool’s area and clear the danger.

It sums up everything about this Liverpool side.

The players are hard-working, never stop running and work for each other.

The result? A team that is 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League table, has gone a full calendar year without losing a league match and can be considered the best team in the world right now.
