Back in the summer of 2016, Liverpool's signing of Sadio Mane was viewed as a huge risk by many.

Most believed £36m for a player who failed to show much consistent form at Southampton was ridiculous.

In fact, many believed Manchester United's signing of Memphis Depay that very same summer was a far better acquisition.

Oh the beauty of hindsight. Three-and-a-half years later and Mane is one of the top five players in world football.

He scores goals for fun, creates opportunities for his teammates and can change a game in an instant.

If you were to try and sign the 27-year-old now, £36m would maybe cover a fifth of his fee.

So how do you best sum up Mane's impact at Liverpool since his arrival in 2016? Easy.

That's because in his 58 Premier League games at Anfield with the Reds, he is yet to lose a single one after the club's 2-0 win over Sheffield United last night - with Mane scoring once again.

Absolutely bonkers, right?

Liverpool's last home loss in the Premier League came back in April 2017, when a brace from Christian Benteke sealed a famous 2-1 win for Sam Allardyce's Crystal Palace.

And the reason the Reds slipped up? Because their lucky charm, Mane, was absent through injury, with Divock Origi taking his place in the front three alongside Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho.

Last season, Mane did taste defeat at Anfield in the Carabao Cup, when an Eden Hazard-inspired Chelsea claimed a 2-1 win over Jurgen Klopp's men.

Back in January 2018, Mane, Firmino and Mohamed Salah all featured in a 3-2 FA Cup loss to West Brom at Anfield.

But when it comes to the Premier League - the trophy Liverpool fans crave the most - Mane remains undefeated to this day.

Salah also boasts an invincible record at Anfield in the Premier League, but the Egyptian was signed a full year after Mane.
