Although we are now in 2020, there are still people discussing the mega boxing fight that was Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor way back in 2017.

One of the richest sporting events in history, the combat world stopped on August 26 as the biggest name in boxing took on the biggest name in UFC.

McGregor was the man entering Mayweather's world and it was the boxer who got the job done...no surprise there really.

Of course, a lot of discussion since the fight has been about 'Money' potentially stepping inside the Octagon for a rematch with 'Notorious', but as of yet, there's been no sign of that happening.

However, in recent months UFC president Dana White has admitted he's working closely with Mayweather with regards to plans in 2020, so maybe, just maybe, the American could be stepping inside the cage after all.

Speaking of White, in a recent interview he discussed the mega-fight that saw Mayweather and McGregor collide, and he revealed that it was in fact rapper 50 Cent who was the man responsible for setting up the bout.

White said, as per ESPN: "I felt the demand for McGregor vs Mayweather, felt it, I knew it would be big, so we started talking.

“I bumped into 50 Cent in New York, and he said, ‘Floyd wants to fight your boy.’ I said, ‘My boy who?’

“He's like, ‘The Irish kid.’ And I'm like, ‘He'll kill him,’ because I'm thinking MMA.

“He said, ‘We'll box him.’ I said, ‘You guys are crazy.’

“He said, ‘He's serious. I'll call him right now.’

“And then that's how it all really got started. And then everywhere I went, it was all anybody asked me about.

“Then once I started to really feel it, that's when I started to take it serious, and I made an offer.”

So it seems 50 Cent is a fighting promoter as well as a rapper. Who would have thought it?
