How the Premier League table would look if VAR wasn't being used this season - Gameweek 21

VAR chat has become a bit boring, hasn't it?

With every passing week, there seems to be at least one decision that makes us question everything.

In gameweek 21, it was VAR's decision to disallow Jack Grealish's goal against Burnley thanks to Wesley's heel that had us screaming at our TV's in despair.

It was probably the worst VAR decision of the entire season - and that's saying something!

However, although we here at GIVEMESPORT have bashed VAR all season, it actually worked well this past gameweek by ruling Phil Foden's goal offside against Everton and awarding Connor Wickham's late equaliser against Norwich.

But what would the Premier League table look like without VAR?

It's a question that we answer every week by analysing every overturned VAR decision from the previous gameweek and speculating how the match would have panned out if technology didn't interfere.

Here's how the table looks after the latest set of fixtures:

Incident: Phil Foden's 13th-minute goal was ruled out by VAR after it spotted Riyad Mahrez was offside in the build-up.

Outcome without VAR (MAN CITY WIN): Foden would have put City 1-0 up but Pep Guardiola's side won the match 2-1 anyway despite having the goal ruled out.

Outcome without VAR (WATFORD WIN): Watford were winning 2-1 when VAR sent Kabasele off. Despite having ten men, they held out for all three points so with 11 men, we back them to have done the same.

Game: Norwich (A)

Incident: VAR awarded Connor Wickham's 86th-minute equaliser after the assistant referee had initially flagged the striker offside.

Outcome without VAR (NORWICH WIN): With the awarded goal coming in the 86th-minute, we can only assume that Norwich would have held on for all three points if VAR hadn't awarded it.

12th | West Ham | Points: 25 | Points difference: +3

Game: Bournemouth (H)

Incident: Aaron Creswell was shown a red card by referee Graham Scott in the 75th-minute for his tackle on Ryan Fraser. But VAR downgraded it to a yellow card.

Outcome without VAR (WEST HAM WIN): West Ham were 4-0 up at the time of Creswell's red card and, despite going down to ten men, we think they would have seen out the remaining 15 minutes.

13th | Burnley | Points: 25 | Points difference: +1

Game: Aston Villa (H)

Incident: Jack Grealish's 11th-minute opener was ruled out by VAR due to Wesley's heel being adjudged to be offside in the build-up.

Outcome without VAR (ASTON VILLA WIN): Villa may not have taken the lead in the 13th-minute due to VAR's involvement but they still won 2-1. Therefore, if Grealish's opener had stood, we think the win would only have been more convincing.
