The news comes as a positive step forward for women's basketball which is gathering more publicity with each season and Coach Leedham plans to continue this trend.

Outlining her plans for the team in a video Tweet posted by GB Basketball, Leedham said: "I think it's a really exciting time for the future of British Basketball."

A native of Ellesmere Port here in the UK, Leedham is a 2016 Franklin Pierce Hall of Famer, a 1,000-point scorer and a fierce competitor, and is credited with leading the Ravens to the 2009 NCAA Division II National Championship game. Despite losing out in the title game, 103-94, to Minnesota State-Mankato, Leedham bagged a season-high 31 points on 12-for-20 shooting.

Coach Leedham is not without coaching experience either as she boasts an impressive list of personal achievements throughout her career. As a member of the UNC Wilmington Seahawks' staff over in the US, Leedham helped guide the program to the 2018-19 NEC Tournament for the first time in five years as Wagner doubled its conference wins from the previous season.

Under Leedham's direction, the Seahawks ranked in the top-three of the NEC in numerous statistical categories last season: free-throw percentage (72.4%, third), field-goal percentage (41.5%, second), rebounding defence (35.9, third), and assists (13.8, second).

Prior to her appointment at Wagner, Leedham enjoyed a stint as an assistant coach for three years at her alma mater, Franklin Pierce, before rising to the head coaching position. She guided the Ravens to a pair of NCAA Championship appearances in 2013 and 2015 while reaching the Northeast-10 Conference Championship game in all four seasons.

She also coached Tiffany Johnson, who claimed the 2012-13 Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year award.

With all this in consideration, there is no doubt the U16 girls are in good hands and will continue to prosper under the capable direction of Coach Leedham.
