2020 has not started well for French defender Wendie Renard.

The defender from French side Lyon lost her FIFA trophy for being named in the team of the year whilst on a train in France on Thursday.

The 29-year-old six-time Champions League winner misplaced her suitcase whilst on a train from Paris to Lyon. The suitcase had both her FIFA defender of the year award and another trophy from France Football. The suitcase was eventually found by staff from train provider SNCF, but the trophy from FIFA had mysteriously disappeared.

The 2019 Ballon d’Or nominee took to her social media accounts to ask for help from the public to find the missing trophy and thanked train operators for their help.

Hopefully 2020 gets back on track for Wendie, we hope she finds her trophy soon. That’s one thing she’ll never leave out of her sight again.
