West Ham United’s Women’s Super League game against Everton this Sunday has been postponed as a result of multiple players getting flu.

The Hammers have apologised for the postponement and will give details of the rearranged date and time of the fixture in due course.

A statement by the FA in relation to the game being cancelled reads “Player welfare is of paramount importance and the decision has been made to postpone the match.”

Matt Beard’s side currently sits eighth in the WSL table, while Everton sits fifth.

West Ham says that tickets bought for this fixture will be honoured for the rearranged match, but any fans wanting a refund can do so by contacting the club‘s ticket office.

The virus seems to be doing its rounds in the men’s game as well, with Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial being sent home from training on Friday morning due to illness.

It has been announced that a follow-up series by Curious Films will feature the Hammers’ team again. This comes after the increase in the popularity of the women’s game and the first series surrounding the club - Britain’s Youngest Football Boss.

The focus of the new six-part series will be about the team’s players and how they manage the game on and off the pitch, as well as their ventures during the 2019/20 season, rather than their managing director Jack Sullivan.

Titled Squad Goals: West Ham Women’s FC, the new series will be produced by Dov Freedman and Charlie Russel - both of which did the same role with Curious’ Britain’s Youngest Football Boss.

”Since we started the journey with West Ham WFC nearly 18 months ago, the interest in the women’s game has just exploded, and we are thrilled that we are continuing to tell their story.” the word of Freedman.
