There’s no doubt about it, Liverpool are on the brink of finally winning the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have gained 58 points from a possible 60 this season and sit 13 points clear at the top with a game in hand.

They haven’t lost in the league for more than a year and it seems they’re simply cruising to the title.

But you won’t find any Liverpool fan wanting to admit that.

It’s been 30 years since their last league win and they’ve seen their side fall short too many times previously to get carried away just yet.

But maybe they should start getting excited.

That’s because data analysts, FiveThirtyEight, suggest the Reds now have a 97% chance of winning the league.

They also predict the European champions will finish on 99 points - just one point shy of the Premier League record.

Meanwhile, Manchester City have a 3% chance of catching and overtaking Klopp’s men as they’re expected to finish with 83 points.

You can understand why Liverpool fans are trying to remain calm right now but you feel that if they manage to win their next three league games, it’s well and truly over.

Liverpool face Tottenham away next weekend, Manchester United at home the following week before a Thursday night trip to Wolves.

Nine points from those three games will see them reach 67 points with 15 matches remaining.

FiveThirtyEight’s data might then suggest Liverpool have a 100% chance of winning the league.
