CM Punk has revealed the original matchcard that was planned for WrestleMania 30 way back in 2014.

Many WWE fans will remember WrestleMania 30 as being the event where Daniel Bryan became WWE World Heavyweight Champion against all odds in the main event vs Batista, Randy Orton, and The Authority.

However, as many fans already know, Bryan wasn't always planned to be in the main event of the show. In fact, WrestleMania 30 was supposed to look a lot different.

Bryan's growth in popularity approaching the 2014 Royal Rumble, which was won by Batista, and after the event caused WWE to change the card and include a way for him to be booked in the top match.

Immediately following the Rumble itself as well, WrestleMania plans were changed further after CM Punk decided to leave WWE as he was unhappy with how the company was treating him.

In one of his recent Instagram stories, Punk revealed he had found the original matchcard booking sheet for WrestleMania 30 while he was doing some cleaning.

The original booking sheet states the following matches were supposed to take place at WrestleMania 30:

  • Randy Orton vs Batista - WWE World Heavyweight Championship
  • CM Punk vs Triple H
  • Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar
  • John Cena vs Bray Wyatt (with The Wyatt Family)
  • Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus
  • Big Show vs Kane
  • Roman Reigns vs Dean Ambrose - United States Championship

As you can see, a few matches above still stayed on the actual card, such as Undertaker vs Lesnar and Cena vs Wyatt, but a lot of these matches didn't take place.

With Punk gone, Triple H faced Bryan instead at WrestleMania under the stipulation where if Bryan won, he would be added to the WWE World Heavyweight title match.

Bryan won the match and would go on to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event.

Instead of facing Bryan, Sheamus took part in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at the event. Big Show also took part in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal as well.

This left Kane to team up with The New Age Outlaws against The Shield in a six-man tag team match, meaning Reigns vs Ambrose for the United States title never took place either.

This is just another example of how plans constantly change in WWE, whether it be from the rise in popularity of certain superstars or the unexpected departure of other superstars from the company.
