Megan Bell has signed her first professional contract with Rangers in the Scottish Women's Premier League at just 18-years-old.

The Northern Ireland midfielder left FA Women's Championship side Durham Women to start her professional career in Scotland.

Bell made her first senior appearance for her country in 2017 aged just 16 years 7 months during a World Cup qualifier against Slovakia.

The 18-year-old started her football career at Linfield Ladies where she won the Women’s Premiership in Northern Ireland three times and will be looking to do the same at Rangers.

Rangers' women and girls football manager Amy McDonald said: "Despite her young age, Megan has had many invaluable experiences in football.

"She has an eye for goal, which is a great thing for a midfielder to have and we are happy that she has chosen Rangers and the project that we are embarking on, as the best place for her to continue her development."

Taking to Twitter to announce her move from Durham to the Scottish side, Bell thanked Durham for their support and expressed her excitement at joining Rangers.

"Words can’t describe how it feels to have signed my first professional contract, especially at @RangersWFC. A real childhood dream come true. Thanks to everyone for your kind messages, can’t wait to get started. #AO1"

Bell explained it was the best Christmas present and a great way to start 2020 by joining her childhood club.

“I have supported Rangers since I was a kid so signing here was a bit of a no-brainer for me and that is something that makes it very special for me because it is my team.

“It is an exciting time to join the club, what Greg (Vignal) and Amy (McDonald) are doing is really, really special and I think it can only be good for Rangers. It is a really exciting time to be part of this women’s team."
