Liverpool beating Everton is hardly a shock result. After all, it's been 10 years since the Toffies last won a Merseyside derby. But ahead of Sunday's FA Cup third-round tie, Carlo Ancelotti's team were actually being made the favourites. That's because Jurgen Klopp made wholesale changes to his starting XI, bringing in nine new players. Takumi Minamino made his debut alongside youngsters Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones and Pedro Chirivella. There was no Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino or Sadio Mane. But that didn't stop Liverpool.

The Reds won 1-0 against a lacklustre Everton. While the young starlets will make most of the headlines, one experienced head deserves a lot of praise for his role in the win - Adam Lallana.

He was brilliant for Liverpool, controlling the midfield throughout, setting up his teammates and limiting his opponents to few clear cut chances.

Klopp was clearly very impressed with Lallana's performance and after the game, came on to the pitch to embrace his player.

The German boss even appeared to bow and doff his cap. Check it out:

Brilliant. That's got to be the ultimate show of respect from Klopp. No wonder everyone loves playing for him.

It wasn't just Lallana who received praise from the boss for his performance. After the match, Klopp praised new signing Minamino.

"He was super, outstanding, exactly the player we wanted," he said.

"His first game in a team he doesn’t know, he had two sessions, showing the game understanding, football skills and attitude. Outstanding."

Supporters will absolutely love to hear that kind of praise for their new signing. They also love to see Klopp embrace his players on the pitch too and that's becoming quite the norm these days.
