Jesse Lingard will want to erase 2019 from his memory.

The Manchester United midfielder failed to register a goal or assist in the Premier League during the calendar year.

No matter how many times that stat is mentioned, it’s hard to get your head around.

Playing for a club like Manchester United as an attacking midfielder, that’s simply not acceptable.

Probably the only reason he’s still at the Old Trafford is the fact that no club wants to sign a player that contributes literally nothing.

However, that could be about to change.

According to the Daily Mail, Lingard is now working with super-agent Mino Raiola.

Raiola, who looks after a host of superstars in world football, is now working with Lingard as he looks to add more English players to his portfolio.

But what does that mean for Lingard’s United future?

Well, the relationship between Raiola and the Red Devils is pretty strained.

The agent played a role in United signing of the likes of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Romelu Lukaku but the club’s hierarchy have been annoyed by his attitude at times.

Only last week, Raiola said this about Pogba’s future: “Pogba's problem is Manchester United. It's a club out of touch with reality and without a sporting project.

“I wouldn't take anyone there, they would even ruin Maradona, Pele and Maldini. Paul needs a club and a squad, one like Juventus was before.”

The club are fully aware that Raiola has taken charge of Lingard's affairs, and accept that it will make it more difficult to keep hold of him given their relationship with the agent.

With Lingard’s contract set to expire at the end of next season, it really wouldn’t be surprising to now see him leave the club in the near future.

Although we doubt there will be too many upset United fans if Raiola does convince Lingard to leave the club…
