Cristiano Ronaldo has scored his first hat-trick for Juventus in Serie A.

In what had initially been a slow start to the season for Ronaldo, his 2019/20 campaign has leapt into life with a stunning treble against Cagliari.

After a goalless first half, Ronaldo opened the scoring by capitalising on a defensive error, channeling his namesake by going around the goalkeeper and then firing into the open net.

His second strike then came in the 69th minute with the Portuguese typically holding his nerve from the penalty spot, placing the ball into the bottom corner after Paulo Dybala was felled.

And after Gonzalo Higuain fired Juventus into a 3-0 lead, Ronaldo bagged himself the match ball with a calm left-footed finish underneath the goalkeeper from Douglas Costa's pass.

Ronaldo hits a hat-trick

It was a historic moment for Ronaldo as he marked his first hat-trick in club football since his Real Madrid days and became the first Portuguese player to ever hit a treble in Serie A.

The 34-year-old has now hammered home trebles in the top divisions of English, Spanish and Italian football having also become the first player to win all three trophies.

GIVEMESPORT'S Kobe Tong says

Ronaldo would surely be the first person to admit that Serie A has been tougher than he expected.

While the quality of Italy's top division has certainly waned over the last 10 years, it remains a competition typified by defensive football and that hasn't always suited Ronaldo's game.

But a set of strong, recent performances suggest that Ronaldo is finally getting the hang of Serie A and his maiden hat-trick in the league could be something of a watershed moment.

Despite his age, it is well within Ronaldo's ability to be competing with the likes of Ciro Immobile and Romelu Lukaku as the top goal-scorer in the land.
