Liverpool have agreed a multi-year sponsorship deal with Nike worth a British record £80 million per year.

The Reds will wear Nike kits from the start of next season after ending their association with New Balance.

The £80m per year agreement surpasses the £75m per year Manchester United currently have with Adidas, a sign of Liverpool’s rising status in the world game.

Only Barcelona (£100m per year with Nike) and Real Madrid (£98m per year with Adidas) have more lucrative sponsorship deals.

Liverpool said in a statement: “Liverpool Football Club is delighted to announce Nike, the world's leading footwear and apparel company, as its official kit supplier from the 2020-21 season.

“The partnership coincides with our move into a new, state-of-the-art training facility in Kirkby for the 2020-21 season, a project that includes investment in improved sport facilities for the local community.”

Concept designers have quickly set about imagining how the the partnership is going to look in the form of new kits, and we’ve picked out the best of the lot.

Nike produced some lovely kits for the 2019/20 season, including Barcelona and Tottenham’s third strips and Inter Milan’s away shirt, and Liverpool fans are no doubt hoping they come up with some magic next season.

Speaking about the Nike agreement, Liverpool’s managing director Billy Hogan said: “Our iconic kit is a key part of our history and identity.

"We welcome Nike into the LFC family as our new official kit supplier and expect them to be an incredible partner for the club, both at home and globally as we continue to expand our fanbase.”
