Stefanos Tsitsipas gave his own father a scare earlier today when he saw red and smashed his racket after losing the first set of his ATP Cup game against Nick Kyrgios.Yes you read that right, in a game involving Nick Kyrgios, it was the opponent who saw red.Unfortunately for the Greek star, he lost in a tiebreak to the Australian and reacted furiously, swinging his racket wildly in anger as he returned to the team bench.Multiple vicious swings by the 21-year-old missed his dad Apostolos at first, who was sat on the bench, before a final swipe of Tsitsipas’ racket caught his father on the top of his right arm.The incident that occurred left Apostolos with a large bruise and he appeared disgusted by his son’s behaviour, inevitably leaving the court shortly after to receive medial attention.

Tsitispas' mum Julia soon after got out of her seat in the stand to give her son a stern telling off for his disgraceful behaviour. He received his punishment and was handed a code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct following the lecture from his mum.

Tsitsipas could face a fine for his behaviour, despite escaping disqualification from the match, along with facing a further lecture from his parents when he arrives home no doubt.

Greece have already been eliminated from the first team event of the season after losing their opening rubbers against Canada and Germany.

Tsitsipas is one of the most highly-regarded young talents in the sport, and won the biggest title of his career to date back in November when he triumphed in the ATP Finals in London.

He will be looking to win his first Grand Slam when he takes part in the Australian Open later this month. The 21-year-old was knocked out of the competition at the semi-final stage last year by Rafael Nadal.
