Manchester United endured a miserable Tuesday evening at Old Trafford.

United welcomed bitter rivals Man City to the Theatre of Dreams for their Carabao Cup semi-final first leg.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side were underdogs going into the tie and they were blown away in the first half.

United were 3-0 at half-time thanks to strikers from Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez and an own-goal from Andreas Pereira.

Marcus Rashford would pull one back with 20 minutes remaining, but United were unable to get back into the game as they succumbed to a 3-1 defeat.

That means United will need a miracle when they head to the Etihad Stadium for the second leg.

However, there was at least some good news for United fans after the game.

Ashley Young is club captain but he isn't popular at all with supporters.

According to Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News, Young did not feature in United's squad for the Man City game despite not suffering from an injury.

And we now know why.

That's because, according to Fabrizio Romano, Young is close to a shock move to Inter Milan.

The Italian giants are now in 'advanced talks' with United for the 34-year-old full back.

And Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Young has already said yes to the move, meaning it could be completed very shortly.

That would be a shock signing.

The majority of Man United fans do not rate Young at all.

He lost his spot to Aaron Wan-Bissaka when he signed this summer and Solskjaer has often deployed Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams at left-back.

But, despite his advancing years, he could go from a team struggling in the Premier League to a side that are challenging for the Serie A title.

For that reason and that reason alone, it's no wonder Young wants to leave.

It wouldn't be the first time Inter and Antonio Conte have signed a United reject.

Both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez made the move from Manchester to Milan in the summer.

Young looks set to be the third United player to make that move in the space of seven months.
