Manchester United's Brandon Williams has already made quite a name for himself.Under the reign of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, a number of youngsters at Old Trafford have been given extended game-time and Williams has now made 14 appearances in the senior team. The young defender has a reputation of being something of a 's***house' - not our words, by the way - and it's something that has reminded United fans of the good old days.Williams is the cousin of a 23-1 champion boxer, head-butted the Accrington Stanley captain in pre-season and has squared up to both Dani de Wit and Neal Maupay in the season proper. However, there's always room for players with such an aggressive style to take things too far and that could easily have been the case against Manchester City on Tuesday night.

Mahrez shines at Old Trafford

It was a tough evening for United as strikes from Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez and an Andreas Pereira own goal saw them 3-0 down in their Carabao Cup semi-final after 38 minutes.

Mahrez was in particularly inspired form, picking up the Man of the Match award, and gave plenty of problems for young Williams down the left flank at Old Trafford.

And you'd be mistaken for thinking he'd had enough of the Algerian winger in the 56th minute by the way in which he sought to deal with him.

Williams' dangerous tackle

That's because Williams went flying in with a reckless slide tackle that Mahrez somehow managed to evade by nutmegging the 19-year-old and narrowly hurdling his leg.

In fact, some fans believed it should have been a foul regardless of the lack of contact and others were convinced Williams could have broken Mahrez's leg if he hadn't of dodged the lunge.

One wrote: "No contact what so ever, but surely this is dangerous conduct? If Williams makes contact he could genuinely break Mahrez’s leg."

Another penned: "Should be a foul and a booking for Williams. Mahrez has to either get his leg smashed or evade the tackle."

While someone joked: "That Williams guy tried to break Mahrez legs there and he still got nutmegged in the process dkm man."

GIVEMESPORT's Kobe Tong says

Would he have broken Mahrez's leg? It's impossible to say, but any tackle with studs raised at lower-leg height has the potential to be dangerous.

Most of the videos on social media show Williams' tackle in social motion, so you can imagine just how quickly and recklessly it appeared in real time.

There's certainly an argument he endangered Mahrez enough to warrant a card regardless of the City player's hurdling impression.

The 19-year-old is incredibly talented and outperforming Luke Shaw right now, but he needs to keep his discipline or referees' books will feature 'Williams' more than an old Take That track.
