Manchester City take a big lead into the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final with rivals Manchester United. Pep Guardiola's side won 3-1 away at Old Trafford, pretty much killing the tie within 90 minutes. Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez and an Andreas Pereira own goal had the visitors 3-0 up in the first half and although Marcus Rashford pulled one back, it seems unlikely United will turn it around. City's first goal, in particular, was very special. Silva picked the ball, cut inside and unleashed a rocket that flew into the top corner, giving David de Gea absolutely no chance.

But many football fans are claiming that the effort was 'ruined' by Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler.

He's been criticised for a real lack of excitement over Silva's strike.

You can judge for yourself below:

As you can probably guess, the reaction to Tyler's commentary on social media was not kind. In fact, his name was trending WORLDWIDE during and after the Manchester derby.

Unfortunately, it was all for the wrong reasons.

"Martin Tyler is a criminally past it commentator. Reacted to that Bernardo goal with the excitement of a man who's bus arrived 2 minutes early," one football fan tweeted.

Another said: "The only time Martin Tyler has shown any interest in that game was when Rashford scored a consolation goal and whilst defending United's empty seats."

One Twitter user took the joke to another level by saying: "Martin Tyler's kids have denied their dad is a secret Man Utd fan. 'He's totally unbiased,' Alex, George, Bobby, Matt and Cristiano stated."

Yep, the Sky Sports commentator will do well not to check social media this morning.

Some fans are even comparing Tyler's commentary to that of beIN Sport, which admittedly, does sound much more exciting. You can hear their coverage in the clip below:

It's fair to say they've blown Tyler out of the water there. But the criticism of Sky's commentator is certainly a tad unfair, given how he's made countless moments more special over the years.

Hopefully, he was just having an off-night.
