Manchester United fans didn't have much to cheer about during their 3-1 defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday night.
Even when Marcus Rashford struck late on for the home side, there was never really a feeling that the Red Devils could claw their way back into the Carabao Cup semi-final.
United had waded through a dire opening 38 minutes where strikes from Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez and an own goal by Andreas Pereira saw them slump into a 3-0 deficit.
It was a performance so embarrassing that over 8,000 people were tweeting for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be sacked within the immediate aftermath of the result.
And even when Pep Guardiola is forewarning of United's Paris Saint-Germain comeback last year, the situation at Old Trafford still looks pretty hopeless.

Man Utd 1-3 Man City
Besides, you know things are bad when there were actually City and Liverpool fans feeling sorry and sympathetic for their historic rivals on Twitter.
It should come as no surprise that plenty of United supporters were venting their anger on social media, but nobody can hold a candle to Mark Goldbridge of The United Stand.
The former detective has become something of a viral sensation in recent seasons and the Twitter account '@GoldbridgeWorld' is always on hand to show his most hilarious moments.
Mark Goldbridge goes into meltdown
And given United's plight this season, there have been plenty of instances where Goldbridge has lost his rag while live-streaming his match reactions on YouTube.
You probably know where we're going with this because Goldbridge's reaction to the Manchester Derby was entertainment of the highest order. Check out some of the clips down below:
Just in case you didn't catch everything, here are some of his finest quotes from the livestream:
Goldbridge's best quotes
"Lindelof couldn't mark a toddler's spelling test! He's slower than a snail's funeral!"
"We're defending like a bunch of drunk badgers in a sleeping bag!"
"Jesse Lingard is as useful as a hot dog at a vegetarian convention!"
"United have been too arrogant for too long. We're just a big club in name. We're nothing."
While every United fan isn't as comically literate as Goldbridge, we're pretty sure The United Stand frontman wasn't the only supporter thinking along those lines.
There were certainly plenty of reasons for the Old Trafford faithful to be feeling frustrated and the poor performances of Lingard and Lindelof were just the tip of the iceberg.
Sadly, at the moment, Goldbridge seems to be showing more signs of life on his livestream than many of the United players are on the pitch.News Now - Sport News
