According to studies, the punch of boxing star Manny Pacquiao is more remarkable than many would expect.

Not only has it been revealed the weight of the Filipino's punches can be compared to a shotgun, but the speed of a Pacquiao punch is faster than the blink of an eye.

In 2015, a study carried out by the "Sports Science" team, aimed to discover how hard the WBA welterweight title-holder hits, and they made quite an unbelievable discovery.

Using a punching bag and high speed motion capture technology, the team were able to analyse the 40-year-old's punches, seeing them land in just 0.12 seconds.

That is a speed quite literally faster than the blink of an eye.

As if his speed wasn't scary enough, the team combined his momentum, weight and speed, calculating each punch to be hitting the target with "806 pounds" of force; an amount which suggests a punch from Pacquiao would feel "like a shotgun".

One person who vouches for the revelation of the incredible power "Pacman" possesses is boxing legend Shane Mosley.

Mosley went the distance with Pacquiao back in 2011, having been knocked down three times. The American seemed perplexed by the veteran's punches.

”I don’t know where he throws his punches, but he does something where, when he lands, it is a different impact,” Mosley told FightHype.

“I mean, I get hit by, even now, I get hit by bigger guys all the time and there’s no dazing, I don’t wobble, I don’t do any of that stuff. I don’t feel like I’m getting ready to wobble or anything.

"With Pacquiao, he just touches you and your already wobbling. It’s not like he’s heavy-handed. He’s not heavy-handed.

”It’s weird, it’s the weirdest thing.”

Other champions beaten by Pacquiao's punches include Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, David Diaz and Erik Morales, all of which discovered the phrase "faster than the blink of an eye" is no exaggeration when it comes to Manny Pacquiao.
