Virgil van Dijk's 2019 will be heralded by many for years to come. The Dutchman was the key man behind Liverpool's sixth European Cup win and he secured the PFA Player of the Season for 2018/19.Van Dijk has also added the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup to his trophy cabinet in 2019/20, as well as finishing second in the Ballon d'Or behind Lionel Messi. Not a bad 12 months and the Dutchman has now made history on EA Sports FIFA.That's because the Liverpool colossus has been named as the first ever 99-rated defender in the 10-year history of Ultimate Team.

The former Southampton man was one of five Liverpool stars named in FIFA's Team of the Year, alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Alisson Becker and Sadio Mane.

You can take a look at Van Dijk's card and in-game stats below courtesy of FUTHead.

Wow. Imagine having a centre-back with 90 sprint speed and nine other stats rated at the maximum of 99.

Robertson was handed the lowest rating of Liverpool's award-winning defensive quartet at 94, with Alisson the second highest on 97 - the same rating as Mane's Team of the Year card.

Aside from Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold's 95-rated card is without doubt the most eye-catching.

Courtesy of FUTHead, you can view the Englishman's jaw-dropping stats below, which include 18 attributes rated at 90 or above.

You could literally play Alexander-Arnold anywhere on the pitch on FIFA 20 and he'd still be world-class.

Matthijs de Ligt's Team of the Year card was also revealed by EA Sports at 6pm, with the Juventus youngster rated at 96 - higher than that of Alexander-Arnold and Robertson.

The Dutchman may have enjoyed a stellar breakthrough year with Ajax, Holland and Liverpool, but ranking him higher than two of Liverpool's go-to men is a bold call.
