The Premier League’s ‘big six’ is still a thing, despite the fact the table tends to look very different these days.
Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal are still considered by Premier League fans as *the* ‘big six’.
Games between these clubs are still the ones everyone looks forward to most, even if a couple of teams (*cough* Arsenal and Man Utd *cough*) aren’t the teams they once were.
But these are the fixtures that the top players are judged on. Can they make an impact in these massive fixtures?
A thread on Liverpool’s Reddit page shows the players who have scored the most goals (not including penalties) and registered the most assists in ‘big six’ games since the 2017/18 campaign. Let’s take a look…

- Graphic shows the all-time Premier League table
19. Eden Hazard
Goals: 1
Assists: 5
No longer in the Premier League, Hazard struggled to score goals in fixtures between the ‘big six’ towards the end of his Chelsea career, but still managed to set five up for his teammates.
18. Marcos Alonso
Goals: 5
Assists: 1
Hazard’s former Chelsea teammate has surprisingly chipped in with five goals and one assist since the 2017/18 season. Not bad for a left-back!
17. Dele Alli
Goals: 5
Assists: 1
In order to be considered as one of the Premier League’s best attacking midfielders, Dele will need to improve these numbers slightly.
16. Paul Pogba
Goals: 3
Assists: 4
Man Utd’s much-maligned French midfielder has contributed a combined seven goals and assists over the past two-and-a-half seasons.
15. Gabriel Jesus
Goals: 4
Assists: 3
Man City’s Brazilian forward tends to take his chances when he’s on the pitch.
14. Ilkay Gundogan
Goals: 5
Assists: 2
You don’t tend to associate Gundogan with goals and assists, but these numbers are pretty impressive.
13. Sadio Mane
Goals: 7
Assists: 0
The only player on this list without an assist, Liverpool’s world-class forward has still chipped in with seven goals in fixtures against the Premier League’s top clubs.
12. Anthony Martial
Goals: 6
Assists: 2
Since he joined Man Utd, Martial has made a habit of scoring in big games.
11. Harry Kane
Goals: 6
Assists: 2
Arguably the Premier League’s best centre-forward has managed to contribute a combined eight goals and assists since 2017.
10. Bernardo Silva
Goals: 6
Assists: 3
Six goals and three assists is a decent return from Man City’s brilliant Portuguese playmaker.
9. Marcus Rashford
Goals: 7
Assists: 2
Man Utd’s main man upfront, Rashford is capable of scoring against any defence.
8. Leroy Sane
Goals: 6
Assists: 4
Sane might not be at Man City for much longer, but these numbers show why Bayern Munich want to sign him.
7. Kevin De Bruyne
Goals: 6
Assists: 4
The Premier League’s best player? There aren’t many better. The Belgian has contributed a combined 10 goals and assists over the past two-and-a-half campaigns.
6. Christian Eriksen
Goals: 5
Assists: 6
Tottenham will have a tough job on their hands if, as is expected, Eriksen leaves Tottenham this year.
5. Alexandre Lacazette
Goals: 6
Assists: 5
Very healthy numbers from Arsenal’s No. 9. But where’s his Arsenal teammate, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang?
4. Roberto Firmino
Goals: 9
Assists: 3
It’s a little surprising that Firmino doesn’t have more assists than goals. Nine goals is a fantastic return from a team player who isn’t renowned for his goalscoring.
3. Raheem Sterling
Goals: 8
Assists: 5
Sterling scores in most games in plays these days, so it’s no surprise to see the Man City forward third on this list.
2. Sergio Aguero
Goals: 9
Assists: 4
A man for the big occasion, Aguero’s numbers in games between the big six are superb.
1. Mohamed Salah
Goals: 10
Assists: 4
But top of the list, with a combined 14 goals and assists, it’s Liverpool star Mohamed Salah. Ten goals, four assists… what more can you say? Outstanding.
When it comes to performing in the big games, nobody beats the Egyptian king.
