Tottenham have agreed a £28 million deal to sign Krzysztof Piatek from AC Milan.

The striker is set to sign a three and a half year contract and complete his medical in less than 48 hours time, according to The Sun

Spurs will pay an initial fee for £23.8 million, with another £4.2 million in add ons.

Despite costing just shy of £30 million, Piatek has only scored four Serie A goals in 18 appearances this season.

He's tasked with replacing Harry Kane, who has netted 17 goals and also made two assists in 25 matches.

Jose Mourinho's hand has been forced by an injury to his star man, who is sidelined for three months.

The England striker limped out of Tottenham's 1-0 defeat to Southampton on New Years Day and will now undergo surgery.

"Following ongoing assessment by our medical staff over the past week, we can confirm that Harry Kane will undergo surgery to repair a ruptured tendon in his left hamstring," a club statement read.

"The striker suffered the injury during our Premier League fixture against Southampton last week and specialists have advised surgery after further review of the injury.

"The decision to undergo surgery is not expected to impact the timeframe that the England captain will be sidelined, with the expectation that he will return to training in April."

GIVEMESPORT's Ollie Browning says:

It's not surprising that Spurs have agreed a deal to sign a striker in this window. The club had very little choice given Kane's injury.

Despite scoring just four goals this season, Piatek could turn out to be a good buy. It's reported that Aston Villa, Newcastle and Crystal Palace were all interested in signing him too.

Clearly, Premier League clubs see something in the Polish striker and Mourinho's style of play could work perfectly for Piatek, who is already used to physical battles - coming from Serie A.

He should be able to adapt to England's top-flight pretty well, but will he be good enough to replace Kane? Only time will tell.
