It could be a very busy January transfer window at Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are five points adrift of the Champions League places and need reinforcements if they want to leapfrog Chelsea before the end of the season.

There are doubts over Paul Pogba’s future, while the Red Devils have been linked with a whole host of signings.

The likes of Emre Can, James Maddison and Donny van de Beek have all been tipped to make the move to Old Trafford.

Now, it seems the club have gone back in for Bruno Fernandes, who they were heavily linked with throughout the summer.

Portuguese media have claimed that Sporting chiefs are in England having a meeting with United over a potential January deal.

It’s no wonder United supporters were sent into a frenzy when they spotted a ‘mystery’ player arriving at the training ground on Friday afternoon.

Images emerged of a man sitting in the back of a card appearing to hide his face.

It didn’t stop fans from assuming it was a new signing and then speculate who it could possibly be going on his skin fade and beard combination. Oh, and it wasn't David de Gea, who had arrived at the training ground by himself earlier in the day.

Just check out some of the replies to the below tweet:

Wolves’ Ruben Neves was certainly a popular shout, so too was Fernandes giving the recent reports.

Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar was also mentioned with one detective fan spotting the same mark on the side of his head.

While Napoli's Fabian Ruiz was also mentioned numerous times.

Football fans, eh?

It probably wasn’t even a player. It may have just been an innocent bloke who scratched his head at the wrong time.

Or maybe the fans are right. It was a new signing arriving for a meeting at the training ground ahead of his official unveiling.

United fans will be hoping they find out for sure in the coming weeks...
