Another day, another VAR controversy in the Premier League. This time, it was West Ham on the wrong end of a tight call during their Friday night fixture away to Sheffield United. Robert Snodgrass thought he'd scored a 91st-minute equaliser for the visitors, but the goal was chalked off after technology stepped in. Declan Rice was adjudged to have handled in the build-up and although it wasn't deliberate, rules state that the attacking team can’t benefit from a handball regardless of intention or not. Heartbreak for West Ham.

When Snodgrass squeezed his shot in, supporters in the away end and Hammers boss David Moyes went absolutely crazy.

After all, they'd just scored a last-minute equaliser to earn a very good point.

In fact, Sky Sports commentators described Moyes as 'ecstatic' as he jumped onto the pitch and punched the air. Check it out, 22 seconds into the clip below:

But that hysteria soon turned to horror when VAR overturned the goal. 'Suddenly the smile becomes a scowl,' Sky's commentator remarked.

Just look at the West Ham managers face when he found out it wasn't going to stand:

Absolutely brutal. Life really does come at you fast.

Just in case you needed reminding, he's some before and after images of Moyes' rollercoaster minute:

Post-match, Moyes addressed the controversial VAR call - and his celebration.

"Whoever was checking it, I think they've got it wrong," he told Sky Sports.

"I didn't see anything wrong [while I was celebrating]. I thought Declan [Rice] broke perfectly, got through the backline with a really good pass. Nothing wrong with it at all.

"We scored a really good goal. A well-deserved goal. I'm a football man, I've played it all my life. It looked good enough to me."

You've got to feel for Moyes and West Ham. A majority of supporters have been arguing the same thing - there's no way the goal should have been ruled out.

But on the bright side, the Scottish manager has blessed social media with a new meme.
