UFC 246 is fast approaching, and with Conor McGregor set to make his much-anticipated comeback in a welterweight bout against ‘Cowboy’ Donald Cerrone, footage has emerged capturing Khabib Nurmagomedov’s reaction to the devastating knockout served to Jose Aldo at UFC 194.It seems safe to suggest that Khabib appeared less than happy at the events transpiring in the Octagon; he had just witnessed the fastest knockout in UFC title fight history in a bout that lasted no more than 13 seconds. It’s no secret that Khabib and McGregor don’t get on, they have a well-publicised and documented rivalry with one another, and no respect is shown between the two. This became apparent throughout the build-up to UFC 229 with heated exchanges via social media and both publicly stating their issues with one another.McGregor, as he is well known for, caused controversy with some of his comments directed at Khabib and things quickly became very personal.

The two went on to feature in the main event of UFC 229 in a much anticipated bout where we saw Khabib take the victory over McGregor – however, it was the post-fight antics that we all remember a little too well.

A fight ensued between McGregor and Khabib’s camp due to a member of Conor’s camp allegedly provoking Khabib, subsequently causing a mass brawl to which the world was left in complete shock.

Time has since passed, and Conor looks set to return at UFC 246 next weekend, but fans can’t help but ponder over a possible rematch between Khabib and the Irishman – it’s a card that undoubtedly will draw a huge fan-base and huge gate and profit margin.

If the animosity is anything close to what we got two years ago between the pair, then we’re in for a ride.

For the time being, Conor has his hands full with his upcoming fight against Cowboy and stories coming out of the rumour mill is that the Irishman has signed a multi-fight deal with Dana White’s UFC, so it may come as no surprise to see Notorious fight again before the year is out, but we shall see nevertheless – the real question is, who’s next on his list?

The obvious choice would be a thunderous bad blood rematch against Khabib, or even Nate Diaz for that matter; is that wishful thinking?

Time will, of course, tell, but as for now, UFC 246 is right around the corner!
