Manchester United midfielder has completed her loan switch to Championship side Sheffield United for the remainder of the season.

With the summer signings of Jackie Groenen and Hayley Ladd, Green has fallen down in the pecking order at Manchester United with playing opportunities coming few and far between.

The 22-year-old bagged 13 goals in United's title-winning season last year, making her a standout player in the Championship to help her side reach promotion.

She becomes the second United midfielder to see themselves loaned out, along with Aimee Palmer, in a bid for more first-team opportunities.

High-flying Sheffield Utd is currently sitting second in the table with a game in hand on Aston Villa at the top and just 3 points behind.

With four teams in the mix for the title and promotion to the WSL, all is to play for going into the second half of the season and Green's addition could be key to Carla Ward's side going forward.

Ward said: "Mollie is proven at this level and adds not only quality but professionalism and experience that's needed in a run in, so we're obviously delighted to have got this over the line."

Meanwhile, Green herself is relishing the opportunity for first-team football again, saying: "I'm buzzing. It's something I've wanted to do for a little while now so to get it over the line is something I'm delighted with.

"I want to get back on the pitch, show what I can do again and I think Sheffield United is a really good place to do that."

Sheffield Utd makes a huge return to football this weekend when they take on Aston Villa in what could potentially be a season-defining 90 minutes.
