NXT have wowed wrestling fans once again, but this time it was the UK-based brand that took centre stage. The last time that a UK TakeOver graced our screens last August, WALTER and Tyler Bate put in a serious Match of the Year contender in Cardiff, where the big Austrian retained his title. The brand though returned to where it all started three years ago - Blackpool - as the Winter Gardens hosted the first TakeOver of the new decade - and boy did they deliver. One half of Moustache Mountain - Trent Seven - took on the Welsh wizard Eddie Dennis, and the latter got his first major win in NXT UK, with the assistance of an exposed turnbuckle. After Dennis secured his victory, it was the turn of the women to take to the ring, and Kay Lee Ray successfully defended her Women's Championship in a Triple Threat match against Toni Storm and Piper Niven.

It was an excellent encounter with a lot of near-falls, but the Scottish sensation Ray kept her title reign going.

The star of the last UK TakeOver was in action next, as Tyler Bate took on one of the most exciting stars on the brand in the form of Jordan Devlin.

As expected it got the crowd sat at the edge of their seats, and after a lot of close calls, Bate finally got the win with a Corkscrew Splash off the top rope, just after Devlin had kicked out of a Tyler Driver 97.

The match left everyone in the venue applauding on their feet, including NXT ruler Triple H, who along with British wrestling legends and NXT GM's Johnny Saint and William Regal were filmed giving the two men a standing ovation for their efforts.

Up next came a brutal Fatal Four-Way Ladder match for the NXT UK Tag Team Championships, and it was the pairing of Mark Coffey and Wolfgang who retained the gold.

The other teams - Grizzled Young Veterans, Flash Morgan Webster & Mark Andrews and the pairing of Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner from Imperium - all gave it their best shots, but it just wasn't enough.

The main event of the evening saw the NXT UK Champion WALTER put his title on the line against Joe Coffey of Gallus, but it was the post-match scenes that were the most exciting.

In a gruelling contest, WALTER retained his belt but as Imperium stood tall inside the ring, Undisputed Era invaded the ringside area from the crowd and attacked the foursome.

The two factions are going one-on-one the night before the Royal Rumble at Worlds Collide, where NXT and NXT UK will go head-to-head, and this was used as a perfect teaser for that.

We may get some kind of Imperium retaliation on NXT this Wednesday, but let's just take a moment to salute all the stars who performed tonight.

They put on one hell of a clinic, and they all deserved the standing ovation that Triple H gave Bate and Devlin!
