Barcelona. Mes que un club.

The motto that has been associated with the Catalan giants since 1968 has marked Barcelona out as a special, unique club.

And perhaps they have a right to distance themselves from every other club. They are, after all, incredibly successful.

Barcelona expect to compete for major trophies. That’s why they paid €120 million last summer to sign Antoine Griezmann - after winning another La Liga title.

The incentives for Griezmann to join were obvious. There was a greater chance to win major trophies, the chance to play with the greatest player of all-time and a sizeable salary too.

Marca reported that the Frenchman’s five-year contract is worth a cool €105 million, which averages out at €21m per season and €404,000 per week.

And Griezmann’s not the only player with an eye-watering salary at the Camp Nou.

The Global Sports Salary Survey of 2018 found that Barcelona spend more on wages than any other club in the world.

So, courtesy of findings from EuroFootballRumous, AS and Goal, we’ve decided to take a look at the weekly wages of every player in Barcelona’s squad.

AS reported in September that 17-year-old Fati’s salary would be €1m annually if he remained in the first team, which he has done.

So we’ve worked out his weekly salary to be little more than £17,000.

Messi’s wages are astronomical - although they have been disputed.

When endorsements are taking into account, the figure is likely to be over £1m a week.

However, Goal recently reported that his new contract is worth a net £500,000 a week.

Barcelona sure are generous with their salaries and it’s easy to see why they are the dream destination for many players.
