Forget about the Drake curse. It’s all about the Divock Origi Curse.

The Liverpool striker has developed a habit of scoring against teams who shortly afterwards go on to sack their manager.

We've seen it with Watford, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Everton and now Barcelona, who sacked Ernesto Valverde on Monday.

Origi, of course, scored the fourth and crucial goal for Liverpool against Barcelona in their Champions League semi-final comeback last season.

The Belgian striker also scored against Newcastle United last season. Their manager at the time, Rafa Benitez, left his position at St James' Park in June.

So, let's take a deeper look into the curse.

On February 27, Origi scored against Watford in a 5-0 Premier League win against the Hornets.

Seven months later, Javi Gracia, who was in charge for that 5-0 loss, was sacked following a dismal start to the 2019/20 season.

In June of last year, Origi scored the second goal for Liverpool in their 2-0 win over Spurs in the Champions League final.

Spurs sacked Mauricio Pochettino last November following reports of a divided dressing room.

That's two down and Origi was far from done.

The Belgium international netted twice against Arsenal - including in the 94th minute - in the Reds' dramatic Carabao Cup victory over the Gunners last October.

Unai Emery was removed from his position in charge on November 29.

Everton boss Marco Silva was sacked in early December, one year after Origi capitalised on Jordan Pickford's clanger to seal a 1-0 win in the Merseyside derby.

Given all this, we should have known that Valverde's sacking was coming.

Origi scored against Barcelona to complete Liverpool's dramatic comeback in last season's Champions League semi-final.

And on Monday, the Blaugrana sacked Valverde.

His departure came following Barcelona's defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final, but we all know his fate was decided when Origi found the back of the net.

No manager is safe when Origi scores.
