This weekend will finally see the return of Conor McGregor to UFC as he takes on Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone at UFC 246.

Despite being in the headlines and the news over the past year or so, 'Notorious' hasn't actually been inside the Octagon since October 2018, when he fought and lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov.

On October 6, in the T-Mobile Arena, McGregor and Khabib did battle to put an end to their long-term rivalry. It was a fight that had bad blood all over it, stemming from heated words exchanged in the build-up.

Whether it be face-to-face during press conferences, or over the internet on Twitter, the two simply hated each other, and at times, it all went a little too far.

However, that was nothing compared to what went down after the fight.

In the fourth round of the fight, Khabib got McGregor trapped in a submission, and that was all she wrote. The Irishman simply had to tap out and concede defeat to the Russian, who kept his undefeated streak in the sport alive.

In shocking scenes afterwards, however, Khabib jumped the cage and right into McGregor's corner, sparking an almighty brawl. Not only was that going on outside the cage, but members of Khabib's team had also got inside the cage and started attacking McGregor.

It was pure chaos, and scenes that eventually saw both fighters receive hefty fines and suspensions for.

Now, UFC have released their 'Countdown' episode for UFC 246, and it shows backstage footage of that night, and it shows just how disappointed McGregor was with what unfolded.

Whether he was just deflated about the result or about the ugly scenes afterwards is unknown, but as you can see from the video, he was clearly devastated with his night's work.

Although UFC 229 was memorable for a lot of things, it's a night that McGregor and Khabib probably have massive regrets about to this day.

The fight was a classic, but what happened afterwards has no place in UFC, or any sport for that matter.

Let's hope UFC 246 doesn't end in similar fashion...surely it won't!
