By overtaking Thierry Henry's record as the Premier League's greatest overseas goalscorer, Sergio Aguero has undeniably staked his claim as the top flight's very best.

The Argentine's hat-trick for Manchester City against Aston Villa saw him surpass the legendary Arsenal striker this weekend.

The vast majority of damage the 31-year-old has inflicted - 126 league goals to be precise - has been with a deadly right foot.

However, that's just taking into account his league goals for City. Overall, Aguero has hit 208 with his right, 54 with his left, 31 with his head, and one with his chest.

At 5"7, one criticism of the champions' all-time leading goalscorer is that he doesn't score as many in the air.

That doesn't make him any less clinical, but it does raise the question of what makes the complete footballer.

After all, the same ammunition is often used by fans when comparing Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

So, with a little help from Statbunker, who have in-depth stats on how the European leagues' top strikers have scored their club goals, we've compared some of the continent's very best.

Lionel Messi

Right foot: 74
Left foot: 414
Headers: 18

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner's left foot might better be described as a magician's wand. The imbalance in his goal record is almost immaterial when you're the greatest of all time.

Robert Lewandowski

Right foot: 213
Left foot: 56
Headers: 53

The 31-year-old has already scored 31 goals for Bayern Munich in all competitions this season. Really. The Polish international shows no signs of slowing down whatsoever.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Right foot: 404
Left foot: 110
Headers: 108

Ronaldo's legion of fans might have a tendency for seeing his achievements through Bianconeri-tinted spectacles, but his dominance over the past decade has been far from black and white. Even so, the fact he has scored centuries with both his left foot and his head, and four times that with his preferred right foot is a ludicrous statistic.

Luis Suarez

Right foot: 189
Left foot: 48
Headers: 27

It's a pity Suarez is undergoing surgery right now or he could swell these statistics even further between now and the end of the season. Again, he's massively favoured his right foot over the years but that's not to take away from his all-round ability as he's played in a variety of roles for Ajax, Liverpool and Barcelona.

Harry Kane

Right foot: 134
Left foot: 46
Headers: 38

If Kane could stay free of injury, there would surely be no ceiling to what he can achieve. From his two headers to win the north London derby, to his long-range curler against Wolves, the England captain has been chasing down Jimmy Greaves' record at Tottenham ever since his breakthrough season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Right foot: 220
Left foot: 49
Headers: 42

Ibrahimovic is back scoring goals in an AC Milan shirt. The Swede's physicality has particularly helped him in Serie A and the Premier League, but his body has defied logic in many ways, not least as he's advanced well into his 30s.

Karim Benzema

Right foot: 136
Left foot: 36
Headers: 37

It's about time Benzema got the credit he deserved and that's finally happening at Real Madrid this season. The Frenchman was always thought of as good in the air but his technical ability also deserves recognition, even if he's more than capable of producing the odd horror miss too.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Right foot: 157
Left foot: 38
Headers: 24

Aubameyang has more than carried Arsenal through a largely woeful season so far. Premier League defenders have wilted at the sight of his right foot, though it was most recently seen being utilised irresponsibly on Max Meyer's ankle.

Kylian Mbappe

Right foot: 70
Left foot: 19
Headers: 6

It's almost unfair to compare Mbappe to Europe's top strikers because of his age. Then again, the World Cup winner has already established himself and deserves to be part of the conversation. His numbers just need extrapolating a little since he hasn't even completed five seasons of senior football yet.

Edinson Cavani

Right foot: 192
Left foot: 46
Headers: 43

It's possible his time at PSG is coming to an end, but what a loss he'll be. Cavani can do it all. The Uruguayan is only surpassed by Ronaldo and Lewandowski for headed goals and his overall tally is thoroughly impressive too.

Perhaps the most important statistic of all is that Ronaldo has scored eight perfect hat-tricks. By comparison, Messi has none.

Nobody is saying that's the be-all and end-all. The Portuguese has also adapted his game as he's got older, running at defenders less, which has had an obvious impact on how he's scored his goals.

In terms of pure variety, though, the Juventus star is head-and-shoulders above the rest.
