Liverpool's 2019/20 squad: Every player’s current market value compared to start of the season

Liverpool FC v Brighton & Hove Albion - Premier League

Jamie Carragher recently praised Jurgen Klopp for his record of improving players at Liverpool.

The Reds have endured an almighty rise under the German and Carragher believes it's down to their work on the training ground which has resulted in Liverpool not needing to buy superstars.

"Robertson came from Hull, Wijnaldum was relegated with Newcastle, Salah had been at Chelsea, Mane had been in the Premier League…they are not just going to the best clubs in the world and buying the best players," Carragher told Sky Sports.

"Liverpool are not buying superstars, they are making them."

There have been occasions in which the Reds splashed the cash. They paid word-record fees to sign Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk, while Naby Keita cost £48 million.

But those signings were needed to put Liverpool in a position to compete for the biggest trophies.

They are the reigning European champions and have one hand on the Premier League title.

And a study of how every Liverpool players' market value has changed since the summer shows the impact that Klopp has had on his squad.

All of the values are provided courtesy of Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Alisson
Value in the summer: £72m
Current value: £81m

Alisson's value has increased by £9m during a season in which he's positioned himself as arguably the best goalkeeper in the world.

FBL-ENG-PR-TOTTENHAM-LIVERPOOL

Adrian
Value in the summer: £3.15m
Current value: £4.5m

The Spaniard enjoyed a rare run of first-team appearances earlier in the season after Alisson went down injured and he showed that he's one of the better backups around.

Liverpool got him on a free and he's now worth £4.5m.

Liverpool FC v Everton FC - Premier League

Caoimhin Kelleher
Value in the summer: £450k
Current value: £900k

Kelleher could soon be Alisson's backup. The 21-year-old has doubled his market value after making three appearances in the Carabao Cup this season.

Aston Villa v Liverpool FC - Carabao Cup: Quarter Final

Andy Lonergan
Value in the summer: £225k
Current value: £225k

No change to Lonergan's value. The 36-year-old hasn't played a competitive game this season.

Liverpool v Chelsea: UEFA Super Cup

Virgil van Dijk
Value in the summer: £81m
Current value: £90m

Liverpool paid £75m to sign Van Dijk in January 2018 and he's now increased his value to £90m with a number of monstrous displays.

Even that value seems low for the best centre-back in the world.

Liverpool FC v Brighton & Hove Albion - Premier League

Joel Matip
Value in the summer: £27m
Current value: £36m

Matip hasn't played since October due to a knee injury. But he played well at the start of the campaign and has increased his value by £9m.

Manchester United v Liverpool FC - Premier League

Joe Gomez
Value in the summer: £31.5m
Current value: £31.5m

Gomez's value hasn't changed despite a consistent run of games at centre-back owing to Matip's injury.

He's only 22 and if he can keep his place in the first-team, his value should rise.

FBL-ENG-PR-LIVERPOOL-SHEFFIELDU

Dejan Lovren
Value in the summer: £18m
Current value: £18m

Lovren's value remains £18m. He's cut out the mistakes and has proven himself to be a fine squad player.

Liverpool FC v SSC Napoli: Group E - UEFA Champions League

Andrew Robertson
Value in the summer: £54m
Current value: £72m

The Scotland left-back has added nearly £20m to his value since the start of the season.

Robertson is enjoying another fine campaign with six assists in 21 Premier League appearances.

Liverpool FC v Watford FC - Premier League

Trent Alexander-Arnold
Value in the summer: £72m
Current value: £99m

Alexander-Arnold comes so close to breaking the £100m barrier.

Liverpool should be exceptionally proud of the 21-year-old, who has risen from their academy into perhaps the best right-back in the world.

Crystal Palace v Liverpool FC - Premier League

Nathaniel Clyne
Value in the summer: £10.8m
Current value: £9m

Clyne has endured a wretched time of late, suffering a cruciate ligament injury last July.

He's nearing full fitness and a January move could be best for all parties.

Fabinho
Value in the summer: £45m
Current value: £63m

Liverpool fans saw Fabinho at this very best before he suffered an ankle injury in November.

He's added £18m to his value since the summer and is in the conversation for the best defensive midfielders in Europe.

p1dukh4o6r10plnabcsn11351kn6b.jpg

Georginio Wijnaldum
Value in the summer: £45m
Current value: £45m

Wijnaldum's value hasn't changed, although that's in part due to his age. The Netherlands international turned 29 last November.

FBL-ENG-PR-SHEFFIELD UTD-LIVERPOOL

Naby Keita
Value in the summer: £54m
Current value: £37.8m

Transfermarkt believe Keita has lost £16.2m to his value this season, which is a large number for a 24-year-old who is playing in a successful team.

The Guinean hasn't met expectations since his arrival in 2018, with injuries preventing him from really kicking on.

Keita has shown flashes of his talent, but can Liverpool depend on him to stay fit?

FBL-EUR-C1-SALZBURG-LIVERPOOL

Jordan Henderson
Value in the summer: £31.5m
Current value: £31.5m

Never has Henderson enjoyed his time at Liverpool more than he currently is.

The midfielder has been at the club since 2011 and is now getting the recognition he deserves.

Like Wijnaldum, Henderson's value hasn't changed as he's 29.

Sheffield United v Liverpool FC - Premier League

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Value in the summer: £31.5m
Current value: £31.5m

Competition and injuries haven't helped Oxlade-Chamberlain's bid for a decent run of games at Anfield.

But he's never let Klopp down when called upon.

Liverpool v SSC Napoli - Pre-Season Friendly

James Milner
Value in the summer: £13.5m
Current value: £10.8m

In December, Milner signed a new contract to stay at Liverpool until 2022.

That shows just how much Klopp values the 34-year-old, whose value has dropped to £10.8m.

Liverpool v SSC Napoli - Pre-Season Friendly

Adam Lallana
Value in the summer: £13.5m
Current value: £10.8m

Lallana's contract expires in the summer and it's not yet clear whether he will be offered an extension to stay at the club.

Like so many players in the squad, he's carried out his role with class.

He's valued at £10.8m but there will be a number of clubs eager to snatch Lallana up on a free in the summer.

Liverpool FC v CR Flamengo - FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019

Sadio Mane
Value in the summer: £108m
Current value: £135m

Mane's value has increased by £27m since the summer, the biggest increase of any Liverpool player (Alexander-Arnold's has also increased by £27m).

The Senegalese forward has been brilliant this season, scoring 11 goals in the Premier League, and proof of his rise came when Lionel Messi said it was a "shame" to see him finish fourth in voting for the 2019 Ballon d'Or award.

Burnley FC v Liverpool FC - Premier League

Takumi Minamino
Value in the summer: £4.5m
Current value: £11.25m

Liverpool paid Minamino's release clause to sign him from Red Bull Salzburg, which was £7.25m, but he's worth more than that.

Liverpool FC v Everton FC - FA Cup Third Round

Mohamed Salah
Value in the summer: £135m
Current value: £135m

No change to Salah's value. The Egyptian is the most valuable player in Liverpool's squad, along with Mane, and is delivering the goods once again this season.

Liverpool FC v CR Flamengo - FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019

Xherdan Shaqiri
Value in the summer: £22.5m
Current value: £19.8m

Shaqiri has endured a tough season, managing just 175 minutes of Premier League action.

His value has dropped as a result, but Klopp isn't willing to let the Swiss midfielder leave in January.

Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool FC - Premier League

Roberto Firmino
Value in the summer: £72m
Current value: £81m

Gary Neville lavished praise on Firmino after he scored the winner in Liverpool's 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last week.

"Any manager in the world would love to have Firmino as their centre forward," Neville told Sky Sports. I think he’s absolutely incredible."

Firmino's value has jumped to £81m, a figure that reflects the Brazilian's immense talent.

FBL-QAT-FIFA-CLUB-WORLD-CUP-MONTERREY-LIVERPOOL

Divock Origi
Value in the summer: £18m
Current value: £18m

Origi retains his summer value having started just four league games this season. Klopp won't be interesting in taking calls for the Belgian this month, though.

Monterrey v Liverpool FC - FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019

These valuations reflect a club that is certainly on the rise.

The increases to the values of Mane, Alexander-Arnold and Robertson are just incredible.

So perhaps Carragher got it right when he said that Klopp has made superstars.

And when you factor in how much they received for Philippe Coutinho - which funded their moves for Van Dijk and Alisson, it's fair to say Liverpool are smashing it in the transfer market right now.
