The circumstances surrounding the death of Chris Benoit and two members of his family will haunt the wrestling world forever - but his eldest son is trying to keep his memory alive.

It's been almost 13 years now since Benoit killed his wife Nancy and his son Daniel, before taking his own life.

WWE refused to mention his name since his actions came to light, and you won't be able to search for his name on the WWE Network if you try.

Despite what happened, David Benoit is still set on becoming a professional wrestler, even though he failed to complete his classes at Lance Storm's wrestling school.

But when he does do that, he wants to enter the ring and carry on the legacy of his father - by performing under the same name.

Benoit told Chris Van Vliet in an exclusive interview, per Ringside News: “I don’t own [the rights to] his name yet.

"I have his middle name I can legally use it and they can’t come after me. Yeah [I would wrestle as Chris Benoit Jr] I think it would be cool. I’ve got the tights with the claw.”

Benoit also continued to say that he's been talking to Our Lady Peace, the band who performed Chris' theme music, so it looks like David wants be just like his father from a wrestling standpoint.

Whilst he isn't fully-trained to be a professional wrestler just yet, Benoit has admitted that the goal would end up being performing in All Elite Wrestling or New Japan Pro Wrestling - but he's already tried the latter without succeeding.

He doesn't want to compete in WWE, and there's probably no chance of them taking him on after what his father did, but from the initial reactions to his revelation, there seems to be a unanimous agreement that he'd have a better chance of succeeding if he just used his own name.
