Manchester United v Wolverhampton Wanderers - FA Cup Third Round: Replay

Manchester United fans haven’t had much to smile about this season, but they must be delighted with the progress some of the club’s young players have made in recent months.

Scott McTominay is now a key member of the squad, Mason Greenwood looks an exceptional talent, while Brandon Williams has been a revelation.

Williams made his senior debut against Rochdale in the EFL Cup back in September and hasn’t looked back since. The 19-year-old signed a new long-term contract a month later and is currently in the process of cementing his status as the club’s first-choice left-back.

Luke Shaw’s performances have been disappointing this season but Williams has taken his opportunities with both hands.

The teenager was the name on every Man Utd fan’s lips on Wednesday night after his performance against Wolves in the FA Cup.

Williams was trending on Twitter following the 1-0 victory after impressing both United fans and neutrals alike.

Even Gary Lineker took to social media to praise the teenager following his latest performance, tweeting to his 7.5 million followers: “The more I watch Brandon Williams, the more I like what I see. Another exciting young English talent. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป “

Aside from the fact Williams is a hugely talented left-back, United fans absolutely love that he can handle himself and isn’t afraid to be a bit of a s**thouse on the pitch.

They saw his fighting spirit yet again towards the end of the first half during an altercation with Pedro Neto.

Future captain material, some fans are already predicting.

Now let’s take a look at some of his impressive stats from the match…

The kid’s a talent, for sure.

Following the Wolves game, Williams has now helped United keep clean sheets in six of his previous seven outings.

Surely a start against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon isn’t out of the question.

If there’s one teenager who won’t be overawed at Anfield it’s this lad.

Here are some of the other best tweets from United fans about Williams following his latest performance…

It seems he’s quickly becoming every Man Utd supporter’s new favourite player - and you can understand why.

The kid is a huge talent and plays with passion and commitment in abundance.

Some people are even tipping Williams to receive a call-up for England’s Euro 2020 squad.

The starlet is yet to make his England debut - he’s only made four appearances for England’s Under-20 side at the time of writing - but if he continues playing like this then he must stand an outside chance of making Gareth Southgate’s squad in the summer.
