You have to be some player to get into this Liverpool side right now.

The world and European champions are currently 14 points clear at the top of the Premier League having taken 61 points from a possible 63 this season.

Quality players such as Xherdan Shaqiri, Adam Lallana and Divock Origi can barely get a look in.

The strength in depth was shown when Jurgen Klopp made a whole host of changes for Liverpool’s FA Cup clash against Everton, only to beat them 1-0 thanks to a screamer from 18-year-old Curtis Jones.

The whole club is full of talent.

So much so that many young players have had to leave Merseyside on loan to get anywhere near first-team football.

The Reds have loaned out a total of 10 players this season. But how are they getting on? With inspiration from Planet Football, let’s take a look:

Rhian Brewster

The 19-year-old striker has battled back from injury and made his first-team debut during Liverpool’s League Cup victory against MK Dons. He also featured in the club’s thrashing against Aston Villa in the same competition and the Reds’ FA Cup win against Everton.

But he’s now left for Swansea for the remainder of the season and made his debut in the South Wales derby against Cardiff last weekend.

Nat Phillips

Liverpool fans believed that the only reason the club recalled Phillips from Stuttgart in January was so that he could play against Everton, beat them, and then return to Germany.

The centre-back had played 11 games for the 2.Bundesliga side before making his first-team debut at Liverpool in the Merseyside derby.

Days later, he returned to Stuttgart.

Elite sh*thousery from Liverpool.

Harry Wilson

Perhaps the most high-profile loanee.

After impressing at Derby in the Championship last season, the 22-year-old is with Bournemouth in the Premier League this campaign.

He’s shown glimpses of his quality despite Bournemouth’s struggles, scoring six goals already this season.

This summer will be interesting to see whether Klopp believes Wilson has the quality to compete with the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah for a place in this first-team.

Ovie Ejaria

Klopp gave Ejaria eight first-team appearances during the 2016/17 season but he’s since had loan spells at Sunderland and Rangers. He did enough in the second half of last season at Reading to be rewarded with a season-long loan at the Championship side this season.

The midfielder has played in all but three matches for Reading this season - starting 22 of the games he’s been available.

He’s notched three goals and three assists as the Royals sit 14th.

Kamil Grabara

Caoimhín Kelleher has benefited the most from Grabara’s loan to Huddersfield, having played in three matches this season for Liverpool’s first-team.

But Grabara has looked decent for Championship side Huddersfield this season, starting in 26 matches.

He may have only kept four clean sheets but he’s producing a string of fine performances to help the Terriers in their battle against relegation.

Ben Woodburn

Where has it all gone wrong for Woodburn?

The young Welshman is Liverpool’s third-youngest debutant of all-time and is the club’s youngest ever goalscorer when he scored against Leeds in the League Cup at the age of 17 years and 45 days. He even started a Premier League game in April 2017.

He also scored a screamer on his Wales debut. He looked destined to be a star.

But Woodburn only played seven times on loan at Sheffield United in the Championship last season and now finds himself in League One with Oxford.

He made nine league appearances before fracturing his foot in October and hasn’t played since.

Still only 20, Woodburn has time to fulfil his potential but things certainly haven’t gone to plan.

Marko Grujic

He’s the answer to the question: ‘Who was Jurgen Klopp’s first signing at Liverpool?’ But Grujic will be hoping he’s more than just a quiz answer at the end of his career.

The Serb is talented and has played 14 first-team appearances at Anfield.

He’s currently impressing in the Bundesliga during his two-year loan spell at Hertha Berlin.

Sheyi Ojo

There was a time when Ojo looked like a real star.

Liverpool actually spent £2 million on the 14-year-old back in 2011 and, during the 2015/16 campaign, played 11 first-team matches.

But after numerous loan spells, the 22-year-old now finds himself at Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.

He’s no more than a bit-part player - only starting eight matches in the SPL this season.

He has started six times in the Europa League and scored three goals, though, to help Rangers reach the knockout stages.

Allan

No longer a Liverpool player.

Allan signed for the club in 2015 but work permit issues meant that he never made the first-team.

He spent 2019 back in his native Brazil on loan at Fluminense and, this month, signed for Atletico Mineiro.

Taiwo Awoniyi

The 22-year-old was sent on loan to Bundesliga side Mainz - Klopp’s former club.

However, the most amount of minutes he’s managed in one game is 45, starting just once.

The club will surely be hoping he plays a few more minutes in the coming weeks and months.

It’s not all going swimmingly for Liverpool loanees then, is it?

In truth, how many of them will ever make the step up to first-team football at Anfield.

Brewster has a chance if his loan to Swansea is a success. While Wilson will be hoping his spell at Bournemouth is the last time Liverpool offer him out.

Then there’s Grujic, who has shown why Klopp made him his first signing as Liverpool manager. He’s impressing in Germany so much that Hertha are looking to sign him permanently.

As for the club’s youngest ever goalscorer Woodburn, he’ll be looking to recover from his fractured foot and get his career back on track.
