When Manchester United signed 21-year-old Daniel James for £15 million in the summer, they probably didn’t expect him to instantly be a first-team regular. However, after coming off the bench on his Premier League debut to score against Chelsea, James started in the next 16 league games. But since his fast start in which he scored three goals in his first four matches, he's gone off the boil slightly. The pacy winger hasn’t scored since.Of course, he’s still young and has contributed to United’s season with some decent performances, which has seen him register six assists.

However, a damaging stat has now emerged that suggests James isn’t quite the next Ryan Giggs like many United fans think he is.

Given his incredible pace, you’d think that James’ dribbling stats are pretty impressive.

However, reliable data guys WhoScored.com, have revealed that James actually has the worst dribbling stats in the Premier League this season.

In a tweet that confirmed that Mateo Kovacic surprisingly had the best success rate of dribbles in the league, they revealed that James actually had the worst with just 40%.

Well, that’s certainly a shock.

United fans obviously came out in defence of the Welshman and attempted to explain exactly why his dribble success rate was so low.

“Can’t go past someone when you get clattered every time,” one replied.

Another pointed at the amount of times James gets fouled by saying: “How many of those 'failed dribbles' resulted in fouls being awarded to United, though?”

While one bragged “Still double the assists than Kovacic.”

Perhaps James needs to be a little bit cleverer when trying to beat his opponents, rather than just simply trying to use his pace. Because it's clearly not working effectively.
