This Liverpool team has the potential to go down as the greatest side in Premier League history.

Don’t believe us? Their tally of 61 points from a possible 63 is the best-ever start to a season by any club in Europe’s top five leagues.

They are on course to finish on 110 points and are also eyeing an unbeaten season to rival Arsenal’s of 2003/04.

Jurgen Klopp’s team have been breathtaking and already have one hand on the Premier League trophy.

Manchester United will look to stop them in their tracks, though, when the two sides meet at Anfield on Sunday.

The Red Devils are the only team to take points from Liverpool this season and their supporters would love nothing more than to prevent the Merseyside club from going unbeaten.

So Liverpool’s current side are on the verge of creating a legacy but one Man United supporter isn’t buying into the idea that they are the best side in English top-flight history.

Twitter user @DevilsOfUnited has compared Liverpool’s players with the Man United’s XI from 2008 and he doesn’t even think it’s close.

Man United won a Premier League and Champions League double in 2007/08 and retained their league title the following campaign.

“08 United side would destroy current #LFC team,” @DevilsOfUnited claims, before comparing the players directly.

The tweet has, of course, sparked an intense debate.

The Man United team of 2008 was filled with talent.

An attack of Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez. A defence including Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic. It was really special.

But if Liverpool can win the Premier League title this season - and set a record points haul in the process - then it’ll be tough to rank the Man United side ahead of them.
