Kate Longhurst has put pen to paper on a new two-and-a-half-year deal at West Ham United.

Longhurst will be staying at the Rush Green Stadium until at least 2022.

The 30-year-old joined the Hammers from Liverpool in August 2018. She scored their first-ever goal in the Women's Super League against Arsenal in September 2018.

"This is a club that is very close to my heart so it's a big thing for me to commit my future here," Longhurst told the club website.

"It's really important for me to be settled and know that I'm somewhere I'll love coming to every day."

During her time with Liverpool, she won the WSL in two consecutive seasons - 2013 and 2014.

The Midfielder has represented England at numerous youth levels, During the under-17 Nationwide tournament final in 2006, she lined-up alongside Ellen White - scoring one of the Lionesses' two-goal that saw victory against Scotland.

Kate has made 45 appearances for West Ham, including last season's FA Cup final against Manchester City. She played all but one of their games last season.

Cup finals are something she is familiar with, having played and scored for Chelsea in the 2012 Women's FA Cup final in a 2-2 draw with Birmingham City - her side would lose the game 3-2 on penalties.

Hammers' manager Matt Beard had this to say on Longhurst's new deal:

"I have spoken before about Kate's professionalism, drive and passion for this club and this team, and she is a hugely important player for us both on and off the pitch," head coach Matt Beard said.

"Kate is the embodiment of the traits we, and our supporters, hold so highly in the players and I know she will give everything for this shirt over the next two-and-a-half years."
