Women's Sport: 2020 NWSL Draft Round-Up

North Carolina Courage won last years NWSL Championship

With the US Women's National Team constantly impressing on the world stage, what homegrown talent can we expect to see making headlines in the NWSL following today's 2020 College Draft?

All nine teams took turns making selections over four rounds in an order which was determined by the league standings and club trades. Orlando Pride finished bottom of the table which meant they were awarded the first pick of the first round, however, they traded that spot with third-place finishes Portland Thorns in exchange for defender Emily Sonnett.

College players were also able to declare early, meaning they'd be available for this draft even if they hadn't completed their time at college. Sophia Smith began attracting a lot of attention from teams and ended up declaring early following her national team call up.
