Saracens players have reportedly been told the club will be automatically relegated at the end of the season in a 30-minute long crisis meeting held this morning.

It will be a mighty fall from grace for the current English champions, who are one of the most famous rugby clubs on the planet.

The decision to demote the London based team will certainly send shockwaves through world rugby, but, having breached the salary cap again, the powers-that-be simply had no choice.

There has been no official confirmation as of yet, but all the murmuring suggests that the club are galloping towards an astounding drop.

The Times recently reported that Saracens had been ordered to cut an eye-watering £2miliion from their wage bill with immediate effect.

The Mail Online also reported that the club have admitted to being 'way over' the stipulated spending limit for the current campaign.

It is an incredibly humiliating moment for a club that boasts the likes of England superstars Owen Farrell, Maro Itoje and World Cup-winning prop Vincent Koch on its books.

The current squad is the envy of clubs around the world but they could struggle to hang on to some of their biggest names if and when the club spirals out of the Premiership.

2020 already looks like a write off for Saracen's fans who, after the highs of the last few years, are going to come crashing back down to earth with a thunderous crash.

More to follow as the story develops.
