If they weren’t already, fans are getting hyped about Conor McGregor’s return to the Octagon, after UFC President Dana White leaked the UFC 246 opening promo two days early.

In what will be his first fight after a 15-month hiatus, McGregor will take on another veteran welterweight in UFC 246’s main event – the American fighter Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone.

Although pay-per-view (PPV) promos are usually kept reserved to build excitement just before the main event kicks off, it’s easy to see why White couldn’t resist sharing this one early.

Posting the promo to Twitter last night, the UFC President captured his own enthusiasm with the caption “HOLY F****** S***!!!!!!!!!! Sorry... yes, I had to share this early. If this doesn't fire u up NOTHING will”.

Given Dana White’s positive relationship with both fighters, you’d be forgiven for wondering whether he might be exaggerating slightly – in this case, we can confirm that he isn’t.

Set to Bon Jovi’s epic tune 'Wanted Dead or Alive', the promo captures McGregor’s meteoric rise to stardom in the face of critics and obstacles at every turn.

The video walks viewers through the many highs and lows of McGregor’s MMA career, reminding fans just how the man they call ‘Notorious’ made his infamous name.

It refers to McGregor as “the biggest superstar that the sport has ever seen”, and regardless of whether you love him or hate him, it would be very hard to disagree.

Although its emphasis might be on McGregor’s return, the promo doesn’t forget Cerrone - an experienced fighter who has shattered more than a few UFC records in his time.

Referring to the American as “the UFC’s most uncontrollable flame”, the video casts viewers’ minds back to the moments that Cerrone became the all-time leader in wins and finishes.

And so, on this occasion, we agree with Dana White that if this promo doesn’t get you hyped for Cerrone vs McGregor this weekend, nothing will!
