Arsenal have had another disappointing day.Mikel Arteta's side went into their game against Sheffield United on Saturday needing a win to try and keep in touch with the top four.And it was all going so well for them.Gabriel Martinelli gave Arsenal the lead on the brink of half-time when he fired past Dean Henderson.And Arsenal looked like they were going to be given a golden opportunity to double their lead when Nicolas Pepe appeared to be felled in the box 20 minutes from time.

However, Mike Dean, refereeing his 500th game, waved away Arsenal's protests.

The incident did go to VAR but the decision stood, leaving Arsenal fans furious.

That looks like a blatant penalty. Why that was not given is anyone's guess.

And the decision proved costly for Arsenal.

John Fleck's volley restored parity in the 82nd minute. The Gunners were then unable to find a winner and the game ended all-square.

Arsenal are now in 10th with 29 points from their opening 23 games. They could fall a mammoth 13 points behind Chelsea in the race for the top four if the Blues beat Newcastle on Saturday evening.
