Following last night’s stunning victory over Donald Cerrone, Conor McGregor could have the chance of avenging his October 2018 defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov in the UK.

Nurmagomedov made the Irishman submit in the fourth round and it is reported that McGregor is very keen on a potential rematch.

UFC president Danna White said following the conclusion of UFC 246: “It’s a huge fight for their legacy and for their sport.

“Khabib is 28-0 and you have to start talking about legacy. After tonight and after the first fight, we’re looking at Hagler- Hearns, Ali – Foreman.

“This is a massive fight with global appeal. This is the fight to make.”

White even went as far to say that the rematch could be bigger than McGregor’s crossover fight with boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather.

McGregor’s welterweight fight with Mayweather ended up being the second most ordered pay-per view event in history back in August 2017.

The two options in regards to location are reported to be the US or the UK, however, Nurmagomedov is not keen on Las Vegas following the unsavoury scenes after the first fight that resulted in a ban for both fighters.

White said: “There are many reasons why it will not it won't happen in Moscow.

It will either happen in the US or in London.

"Unfortunately, Khabib is not a big Vegas fan after what happened to him here last time."

When asked about a potential venue, the ‘Notorious’ Irishman said: “I love the UK, but if it’s happening in a stadium, it is happening in Ireland.

“I would love to fight in my hometown.

“The raiders stadium looks phenomenal and I would love to be the first combatant to fight there.”
