That question was being discussed between Roy Keane, Graeme Souness, Patrice Evra and Dave Jones ahead of Liverpool's game against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
And it's fair to say Roy Keane doesn't think they are as good as people think.
The Irishman is known for saying exactly what he thinks and he didn't hold back about this current Liverpool side.
"They [Liverpool] have been brilliant in Europe over the past few years," he began.
"And everyone's been getting carried away with them because they are so brilliant.
"But this will be their first league title. You've got to win a few league titles first."
Souness then interrupted Keane, saying: "They are bordering on being that [great] when you look at their consistency. Second last year, they would have won it in any other year. Losing in the Champions League final to poor goalkeeping. Their close to being a great team."
Keane was shaking his head as Souness spoke and he just had to cut him off.
"Close? You said they finished second. It doesn't matter how many points you get you finished second. Do me a favour."
Roy Keane going full Roy Keane. Another classic moment of his.
Evra was also loving Keane go off on one against their great rivals.
Keane also said that Man United beating Liverpool at Anfield should not be considered an upset.
"The word upset has been mentioned. Manchester United getting a result against Liverpool is not an upset. It's Manchester United," Keane told Sky Sports, per Yahoo."They'll have to play well, particularly the goalkeeper, but they're more than capable of getting a result.
"It will be very difficult, it's always a tough game. But this idea that it's beyond them to get a result here [at Anfield] is ridiculous."
