WWE News: Triple H reveals Shane McMahon came up with the D-Generation X name

D-Generation X is one of the most iconic stables not only in WWE history, but in wrestling history too.

However, nobody in the stable actually came up with the name 'D-Generation X'. That honour belongs to somebody else, Shane McMahon.

During a recent interview with Loudwire on their Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction? series, DX member Triple H revealed it was actually Shane that came up with the iconic name for the stable all those years ago during the Attitude Era.

The Game said, via Fightful: "I believe the name came from Shane. The first time I ever heard it was from Shane. Bret [Hart] had said we were nothing but a bunch of degenerates, right? Like, we were just losers, a bunch of degenerates, but [Bret] had said this backstage.

"But Shane was saying to somebody these guys represent, like, they're young and this is kids today, they're like Generation X, man. They are that thing.

"He combined the two and he's like 'it's like degenerates, But they're generation X or D-Generation X.' And that's that was the first time I ever heard it and then we flipped it into a promo."

It looks like Shane McMahon's phrasing worked out perfectly, as D-Generation X went on to become one of the most iconic stables in WWE history.

However, this isn't the only iconic WWE name which Shane-O-Mac has come up with, as he thought of Kevin Nash's Diesel name.

DX's work in WWE was recognised last year when the group was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2019.

There's currently no word as to when Shane will be back in the ring, but fans won't have to wait long to see DX back in the ring again. WWE recently announced that DX will reunite for the upcoming live event at Madison Square Garden on March 22.

It's not clear if the stable will be wrestling, but there's bound to be shenanigans by the group once more on the night, just like they did back in the Attitude Era.
